Monday night, I unpacked and unwinded from my trip to Skye. It was definitely worth skipping my Friday lectures and seminars. I was grateful to be back in my flat that night. I loved traveling and exploring but sometimes its nice to have a place to call home. My little flat in Stirling definitely feels like home.
On Tuesday, I attended my lectures and seminars, catching up on some school work and on my travel diary. I have been focusing on my travel diary more because I think reflecting on my more personal experiences of what I see and what I do during my time in Scotland is more important then making the public aware of what I am doing. My diary also helps as a great rough draft for every blog post.
On Wednesday, I attended my screening for my Reading Film & TV and just hung out a bit. It was a very chill day on campus. Later that afternoon, I met up with Joy and Alex to head to the Wednesday night Mountaineering Dinner. We played our version of Heads-up and we had a hilarious time. Lots of laughs went around that night.
Afterwards, we walked to the Settle Inn, the oldest pub in Stirling. Every Wednesday, they play traditional Scottish music and it is one of my favorite things to do in Stirling. Joy, Alex, and I were all able to grab a prime seat to listen and enjoy the music.
I woke up Thursday morning and it was a beautiful sunny day in Stirling! An occurrence that is happening fewer times with every passing week. I took a run around the loch, spotting a bright and beautiful yellow leaf on my run. I also explored the forest pathway behind my flat and found a beautiful hilltop view of the Wallace Monument.
I was missing home and Xavier just a lil' extra that Thursday. It was snowing back at home and I also missed the Xavier vs. Wisconsin basketball game. I guess you win some and you lose some while studying abroad.
Friday was busy with lectures and seminars, so I was grateful to finally be back in my flat at the end of the day. I was also eager to listen to Mumford & Son's new album as well. That night, I did some laundry, worked on my travel diary and watched a stand-up comedy show on Netflix. I will miss these peaceful Friday nights here in Stirling.
On Saturday, I woke up and took another run on the loch. It was another beautiful, but slightly chilly day in Stirling. I decided to do some exploring in Stirling and shopped at Thistles, the local mall. I also grabbed dinner at my favorite cafe in, Mint.
On Sunday, I woke up and made my way to the library to work on my script for my Scriptwriting class. I was able to find a cubby with a beautiful view of campus. I took a wee break, checking out a craft fair in the Union, and decided to go for a quick run during golden hour. I worked on my script a bit more until switching to my blog to call it a night.
It was a casual and low-key weekend, but after all of my travels, I did not mind a relaxing weekend. It is crazy to think I only have a few weeks left in Scotland. I am already feeling bittersweet about leaving. I am so thankful to have found a place that I was able to make it feel like home. Cheers to these last few weeks!
