After pulling out my Fair Isle styled sweater, Autumn is definitely coming here in Scotland. I have definitely become adjusted to the chilly weather compared to the heat in Philadelphia and Cincinnati. On Monday, it turned out to be a beautiful sunny, Scottish day. When the sun is out, the sky is such a deep blue color I don't believe I have ever seen such a color back in the States. To take advantage of the last few sunny days in Scotland, I decided to take a nice run around the loch. Later that day, I worked on updating the blog and catching up on my travel diary!
On Tuesday, I attended my Philosophy and Reading Film & TV lectures as well as my Philosophy seminar. In between those classes, I managed to grab some chocolate milk and a croissant for breakfast (and maybe a biscuit too!) from one of the cafes located in the Student Union. Later that night, my flatmates and I headed to The Studio, a bar located right in the Student Union, for Tuesday Karaoke Night. My flatemates thought it was a great idea to all hang out for the night after hearing, Jimmy, one of my flatmates, would be dropping from his Master's program. We are sad to eventually see him go. The night was still a great time to hang out with my flatmates and meet some new people as well!
I woke up Wednesday morning to another beautiful sunny, Scottish day and got up to take another run around the loch on campus. On Wednesday's I have my screening for my Reading Film & TV module and this week we watched "The Bicycle Thief." I grabbed another croissant that morning from a different cafe located in the Student Union. Later that night, I ended up hanging out in another dorm with two girls I met the night before, Cassidy, from North Carolina, and Nicole from Glasgow, Scotland. It was great getting the know them and build some new friendships. The University of Stirling has a large international student population so its been so fun meeting new people every day from across the world!
On Thursday, I decided it was time to finally lock myself in the library for a few hours. The library is quite small compared to the University's student population, but I was lucky enough to find myself a little desk with a great view of Dumyat in the background. It reminded me of my little cubby back at Xavier. After catching up on my readings and notes and feeling like I had my life together, I made my way back to my flat. As I walked over the bridge, the sunset was so pretty that evening, even a group of boys stopped to take a picture. As I made dinner in our community kitchen, my flatmates and I hanged out and I was able to get some tips from Daniel and John about Copenhagen. Afterwards, I started to prep for my weekend trip to Copenhagen and worked on my blog and travel diary.
After a terrible night sleep, I made my way to class on Friday. It's amazing how fast Friday's go by with a busy class schedule. I did manage to sneak back to my flat to snack on some Nutella and pretzels and a PB&J. Although the clouds started to roll in after class, I went for a run to grab some fresh air after sitting in a classroom for most of the day. I officially caught myself up on my travel diary and on blog as well. After packing my backpack (I am embracing the simple lifestyle for this upcoming weekend), I called it an early night knowing I had a busy weekend planned in Copenhagen, Denmark!
My third week at Uni definitely made me feel at home here at Stirling. It was nice to finally feel settled down with friends and get caught up on my classes and blog. It is crazy how fast time is flying though. Next week marks a full month here at Stirling and I already feel like I am running out of time during this semester! I hope it will slow down just a "wee" bit. I am super excited (and a tad nervous) for some solo traveling to Copenhagen this weekend so check out my next blog post on on my first European adventure! Cheers to my fourth week at Uni!
